Integrating Social Media : My preferred Social Media assets are LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, and Vimeo. Blogs and web sites obviously feature but why did make this our selection for Integrating Social Media #ISM.
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn were the most commonly used social media tools according to the 2012 Social Media Report sponsored by Social Media Examiner. Facebook scored 92% closely followed by Twitter and LinkedIn with 82% and 73%.
New entrants Google+ and Pinterest made some running, Google+ scored 40% with Pinterest a late entrant. Generic activity – blogs, photo sharing and video sharing also featured.
According to Experian, top sites in terms of visits were Facebook and YouTube with a combined 83% of total visits. Twitter featured along with Google+ and Pinterest, all three pushing ahead of LinkedIn.
Pinterest is making a good run in 2012. According Shareaholic February 2012, Pinterest is driving more traffic than Google+, LinkedIn and YouTube combined.
In terms of the social media tools marketers want to learn more about, Google+ dominates with a 70% rating. Blogging, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter also feature. Pinterest will surely feature in the next survey.
LinkedIn, drives the most customer B2B traffic 65% compared to Facebook (43%) and Twitter (40%) but Facebook dominates the B2C drive (77%) compared to Twitter (55%) and LinkedIn (51%).
So which are the sights to work with in 2012, Facebook has 800 million users and could be heading for over one billion by the end of the year. Google+ is on a role with 200 “users” forecast to rise to 400 million by the end of the year.
As of March 31, 2012, LinkedIn operates the world’s largest professional network on the internet with 160 million members in over 200 countries and territories.
Twitter has 100 million active users, of which 50% log in every day to send 250 million tweets each day.
Pinterest is the exciting development in 2012, 12 million visitors in January 2012 compared to 8 Million in December 2011. With an average of 1.36 million visitors daily, visitors predominantly female are spending more time on site than Facebook and YouTube.
So where is our money and our action? LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook feature along with Pinterest and Google+. Many remain sceptical about the Google+ model. Google+ stable mates include gmail with 400 million users and YouTube with 2 billion views per day. This should push the doubters towards conviction. Google will get this right in the end.
Join me on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Vimeo. #ISM.
